Another Dr. Appt.....Dr. Visit #2

Merry Papsmear.........Ok, not so much. But, I did have to have that dreaded exam the day before Christmas as part of my routine maternity care. Yippee......
After that was when the fun started though. Whilst still dressed in that ever so stylish paper gown and draped in a very large paper towel blanket, the Dr and nurse tried their best to get a heartbeat on the handheld doppler. (pretty sure thats a run-on) After about fifteen minutes of intent listening they gave up and called ultrasound.
I've known for years that I have a retroverted uterus (meaning it tilts towards my back instead of my bellybutton) which makes it harder in early pregnancy to use the doppler. So....I wasnt too concerned. To ultrasound I went though and I'm glad I did.
Without having a full bladder even the tech was able to get a clear image of little gummy bear jumping up and down like "she" (wishful thinking) was playing invisible jump rope! Quite entertaining. She also got a steady heartrate of 157. Above 155 is indicative of a girl according to old wives tales!
Ultrasound is so fun because during everyday activities you kind of forget that theres a full on human being created in YOUR BODY! When they turn on the scanner its exciting to get a sneak peak!
I will be back to ultrasound in about 8 weeks for a comprehensive scan and to see if all those old wives are right.........we shall see.

Old Wives.....the tales they tell......

Today I decided that I would apparently determine this little peanut's gender by going through all the old wives tales. I would very much like another girl (because I'm cheap and I can use my 3 year olds baby stuff!) and our first daughter is insistant on getting a little sister!
So first off......Chinese Gender Prediction Chart......results: Girl
Heart Rate is 153.................................results: Girl
Urine pH is Acidic................................results: Girl
Wedding ring on a string....................results: Girl
So there ya have it. The fates are leading me to believe that I can start loading the nursery with pink! But, I wont. I'm a chicken and I generally have bad luck, so I dont want to jinx it. I guess we'll see how accurate those old wives were at the next ultrasound.

Always In Moderation......right ......right.....

So here we are again. In the first trimester......waiting on the action. In the meantime, I guess ill just eat my way through the holidays. As of today I am 1o weeks and 6 days along and I have the appetite of a sasquatch!
Last time around I gained about 100 lbs so I did learn a lesson.......no, I AM NOT EATING FOR TWO. I am going to have to purchase some willpower if I am fond of just having the one chin.
With my first I craved hot tamales candies and oranges.......lots of them! Oh..and..the cream puffs from Aldis....and....Orange Crush soda....among other calorie laden treats.
So far this baby likes fresh cherries and Diet Mug rootbeer. Could be way worse! So, for now, I'm having a light fish filet and some veggies for supper......and some ice cream after everyone else is asleep! (It's like an "if a tree falls in the forest" kind of thing....it doesnt count if no one sees!)
